We open for the summer season on June 28, and the museum will then be open every day (Mon-Sun) 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. until August 15.

Here you can step right into the rural lifestyle of bygone days!

Come and experience life as it may have been at the turn of the 20th century in the countryside in Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia. During the summer season at Stundars, you learn more about local history and hear stories, see sights and experience sounds and scents that bring you back to the rural way of life here a hundred years ago.

Stundars open air museum in the village of Solf in Korsholm consists of seventy buildings that were all relocated from villages in Korsholm and the Vaasa region. There is a country shop, a village school and a farmhouse as well as many artisans’ workshops and crofters’ cottages.

Tänä kesänä pidämme kolme teemapäivää, Textil Day 8.7., Food Day 22.7. and Farm Animals Day 7.8. We also spend national Day of the Visual Arts at 10.7 together with Open Air Museum Brage and Vasa City Museums.

Guided tours of the museum village
Ask for English Guided tours at Info when you come to the museum. Both standard guided tours and guided tours specially designed for children are given as part of the weekly program. Please book in advance if you require a guided tour at another time. We also hold a short ”lesson” at the village school.

Play environments
At Stundars, in an authentic atmosphere, children can imagine they are part of old-fashioned country life. In the Play Barn, our wooden animals need to be fed and cared for by small farmhands. In the Children´s Country Shop, young visitors can have fun weighing, measuring, buying and selling goods. In the Carpenter´s Workshop there are real tools and children can have a go at hammering and sawing. Various arts and crafts events take place in the museum village during the summer season. Right beside Cirkas Café & Shop, there is a newly rebuilt playground for children!

Animal Park
In the animal park you will meet our animals, sheep, hens and rabbits and you can see how the animals are fed and tended.
