Poet Jarl Hemmer 1893-1944

The museum collection also includes an archive, a photo collection, a textiles archive, an art collection and a printing museum. Hemmer’s House also includes a memorial room dedicated to the poet Jarl Hemmer (1893-1944). This building also houses the museum’s collection of instruments.

Hemmer

The Finland-Swedish poet Jarl Hemmer was born in Vaasa in 1893. Today his childhood home is a dynamic cultural centre at Stundars. The memorial room contains furniture and books from the Hemmer family.

The Hemmer collection consists of books, documents, notes and smaller objects. Most of the items are part of Jarl Hemmer’s library and his parents’ library. The Hemmer collection is kept in Hemmer’s House and is available for use in research.
